Launched around the middle of June 2006, the Englishman In America weblog is more than just a blog for my personal ramblings (although there are sure to be plenty of those). Its aim is to become a resource for all British expats living in America or Brits thinking of coming to America whether it be for work, holiday or permant residence.
It should also become a resource for anyone interested in all things British and looking to find information on this in the U.S.
I hope to eventually compile a directory list of British blogs and shopping resources amongst other things over the course of the coming months.

So, after the third pair of headphones crapped out on me at the gym this year I decided enough was enough - there had to be a better solution for listening to my tunes whilst jogging on the treadmill. Turns out, there is, and I feel like a fool for ...

In my view, mince pies are almost the best part of Christmas, aside from presents and maybe run a close third by Christmas pudding that is, but pretty close to being the best part anyway. My mum always made loads of these scrumptious little devils back in England around Christmas ...

The basic idea behind Squidoo is to allow people who have ...

Roast potatoes are a typical component of the traditional Sunday roast dinner and other British dishes. In my house, roast tatties usually find their way onto the table at least once a week and as they're such a versatile additional to any meat dish, definitely not just on Sundays.
In order ...

Monday night is typically leftovers night for us, typically as a hangover from Sunday dinner which always results in the cooking of way too much food for whoever might be invading our home on that particular weekend.
My favourite type of left-over night comes following the traditional British sunday roast dinner ...

Of all the new shows scheduled to be released this Fall, Jericho was the one premier I was looking forward to the most.
The premise is a tantalising one.
Imagine going about your usual daily business when suddenly something catches your eye. You look up to see a mushroom cloud forming in the ...

I think we got pretty lucky on my first visit to the annual Reno air races. Thunderstorms in the mountains and the high winds in the valley areas which had begun to dog the end of the week gave way to a pretty perfect Saturday afternoon . With temperatures in the mid ...

This was my first visit the balloon races which this year were celebrating their 25th anniversary so I didn't know quite what to expect. We arrived early, VERY early at around 4:30 in the morning, packing several blocks away as we had been advised that parking at the balloon races ...
